After a sartorially stacked few days in London, the menswear pack flocked to Florence, Italy, for the Pitti Uomo trade show. As per usual, the biannual fair welcomed a generously patterned and well-suited spread of lads from all of the world: There were mixed plaids aplenty, along with finely tailored wool coats, highlighter-hued scarves, covetable cross-bodies, ankle-baring cargo pants and slick leather bombers. Altogether, it was a smorgasbord of dapper delights.
To top it off (literally), many of the men scattered about the Italian streets wore newsboy caps. The old-timey accessories were spotted in an array of tweeds and autumnal shades, and were paired with everything from bright cardigans to cuffed jeans. Though the hats didn’t outnumber winter’s go-to knitted beanie, it was refreshing to see attendees experimenting with a headpiece other than a beret. Will this trend carry over into Milan and Paris? To be determined.
