Developers in El Segundo are hoping to add more hotel rooms in the city that has seen a surge of hotel construction recently.
The project applicant – an entity called Segundo Restaurant Partnership, LP – plans to raze a vacant restaurant and parking lot at the northwest corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Palm Avenue to make room for a 55,000-square-foot boutique hotel. Urbanize reported the proposed four-story hotel at 707 PCH will be named Segundo House, and include 116 rooms, a restaurant, and a fitness center.
If approved by the city of El Segundo, construction for Segundo House will last about seven months, according to application files.
It will join more than a handful of other hotel projects in the 5.5-mile-wide city just south of LAX. For example, the Hampton Inn at 2130 Maple Avenue, and the Cambria Hotel on El Segundo Boulevard were recently approved. Also, the AC Hotel was recently approved and is under construction, and The Hyatt Place, two hotels by Hilton, and a Marriott hotel are nearby.
The Segundo House project was designed by Axis/GFA Architecture + Design. The firm also designed an 80-room boutique hotel set to be built next to San Pedro’s Warner Grand Theatre. [Urbanize] – Gregory Cornfield
