Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world’s eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We’ll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”
This season marks the first winter that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has spent living full-time in England — and she’s clearly built an impressive coat collection just in time. She’s recently stepped out in a cozy cocoon coat, as well as an unexpected burgundy one. On Tuesday, she made a public appearance to visit the Royal Variety Charity’s Brinsworth House in Twickehnham, England, which made for yet another practical outerwear moment.
For the visit, which allowed the Duchess to “see first-hand how the charity cares for those who have spent their lives working in the entertainment industry,” according to Kensington Palace, she wore a gray trench coat by Soia & Kyo, specifically the brand’s Adelaida Slim Fit Maxi-Length Classic Wool Coat in Ash. She layered the cozy topper over a prim Brock Collection piece — the Odilia Floral-Print Panelled Midi Dress from the label’s Resort 2019 collection.
To finish the look, the Duchess tied her hair up in a tidy knot and paired it with her Aquazzurra Deneuve Pumps, which have become a staple in her shoe wardrobe. The Duchess appears to have possibly gone bare-legged for the outing, which leads us to believe the warm, wool coat was in fact as toasty as it appeared.
