Two Los Angeles produce distributors that were founded more than 100 years ago, Umina Brothers and Choumas Produce, have merged.
The family-owned companies, located near each other on the Los Angeles Produce Market, are combining and will be known as Umina Bros. when their integration finalizes on Jan. 28, according to a news release.
“This union will benefit our customers through enhanced product offering without sacrificing service,” Richard Flamminio of Umina Bros. said in the release. “Jack and his team come with a lot of experience and product knowledge. It is exciting to have two family companies, each being established for 100 years, working together towards the same goal.”
Jack Choumas said the depth of Umina Bros.’ “bench” is impressive.
“Along with that, we are two 100-plus year produce distributors and close friends who have complementary departments that dovetail well together,” Choumas said in the release.
Umina Bros. has been supplying domestic and export customers for more than 100 years, and Choumas Bros. was founded in 1918, according to the release.
