With two weeks to go in the 2018 season, meaningful football will take center stage in the NFC West, as all three games provide playoff positioning for the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks.
As December rolled around, and the Los Angeles Rams were sitting pretty at 10-1, it was easy to wonder if LA would or could run the table and close out the year 15-1. Everything looked to be firing on all cylinders after a 54-51 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, including a timely bye week that allowed for some needed rest before the final push towards the postseason.
That’s when it got weird.
At 11-3, the Rams look to be playing two meaningful games against two NFC West opponents who should be easy checks in the win column. But suddenly, a trip to the lowly Arizona Cardinals looks to be “must-win” for Los Angeles to keep pace as the Chicago Bears are close on their heels, and playing the San Francisco 49ers in the Bay Area.
Actually, Week 16 in the NFC West is all about “must-win” as playoff positioning takes center stage in Glendale, in Seattle, and in San Francisco.
The Seattle Seahawks get one of the two best in the AFC as Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs head to town to play a huge game for both teams.
At Levi’s Stadium, the Niners host the Bears as Chicago looks to stay close to LA for an outside shot a stealing the number two seed in the division from a suddenly reeling Rams team.
It’s all meaningful in the NFC West in Week 16, especially for Los Angeles and the Seahawks.
