Great news for breakfast burrito fans everywhere: The Rooster truck is going brick and mortar. The endlessly popular daytime food truck has been roaming the streets of Los Angeles for years with chef Rouha Sadighi at the wheel, and now they’re putting down permanent roots in Pico-Robertson.
The Rooster truck will take over the defunct former Komodo space on Pico Boulevard, with an eye towards turning it around in just a couple of months. The place operated as a fun fusion-y burrito and taco place for years, so the building is basically turnkey at this point. Still, expect some individual splashes from Sadighi, and some new menu items as well.
Sadighi tells Eater that the upcoming Rooster location will allow the team to grow into a solid lunch service, expanding with sandwiches and other deli-style items. They’ll also be beefing up the brunch and breakfast menus now that there’s some elbow room, working beyond just the popular Rico Suave breakfast burrito.

What’s more, the new standalone space should make for a great wholesale kitchen. The Rooster Truck has for a while now been selling batches of breakfast burritos to coffee shops around greater Los Angeles and Orange County, and the new kitchen will greatly expand those opportunities. It does mean that the truck itself will scale back to mostly one-off events, some weekend runs, and private catering in the near future.
There’s no official timetable for opening just yet, but Sadighi and longtime business partner Tim Mokry are aiming for an arrival in early March. Meanwhile, the truck is celebrating its three-year launch anniversary on January 24. What’s more, Sadighi and Mokry have launched a $50,000 crowdfunding page to raise money for the restaurant flip, offering t-shirts, monthly breakfast burritos on the house, and other goodies in return for the up-front money to kick things off.
