Celebrity chef Scott Conant and serial restaurateur Stephane Bombet have closed their Beverly Boulevard restaurant The Ponte after two years. The quiet closure came after one final New Years Eve celebration.
The decision to shutter the Ponte came out of left field for some, as the restaurant had not publicly announced its closure beforehand. But a call to the restaurant on New Years Eve confirmed the upcoming shutdown, with workers there saying the place was “closing for renovations” without offering a new timeline for reopening. Others have told Eater that an entirely new restaurant is headed into the space on Beverly Boulevard, though what that will look like is unclear. An Instagram post up by the restaurant says that renovations should take a couple of months.
If news of the New Years Eve shutter sounds familiar, remember this: Back in 2016, the Ponte space was a different restaurant (still under operator Stephane Bombet) called Terrine, with chef Kris Morningstar at the helm. Bombet also picked New Years Eve to quietly close the place and turn it into the Ponte, without announcing anything publicly beforehand. Got more news on what’s to come at the Ponte?
