Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm MWest Holdings has broken ground on a mixed-use development in Echo Park.
The project, located at 1533-1539 Echo Park Avenue, will consist of a three-story structure featuring 35 studio apartments above 2,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space and 40 basement parking spaces.
The low-rise structure, designed by KFA Architecture, is portrayed in a conceptual rendering with a brick exterior accented by wood.
The nearly 21,000-square-foot development is replacing a small office building, and neighbors the 44-unit Del Mor apartments, which are also owned by MWest.
MWest, which is headquartered in Sherman Oaks, owns a number of historic buildings throughout the Los Angeles area.
