Uniqlo U is back with another collection that celebrates color. Last season, Christophe Lemaire punctuated fall staples with a host of rich ochres, fuschias and burnt umbers. And for Spring 2019, the Lemaire-led design team continued to play with vibrant hues. The collection is inspired by saturated earth tones countering rich, tinted hues and bold accents. Therefore, garment details and silhouettes have been simplified to accentuate the ambitious palette.
As per usual, the line comprises advanced designs, patterns and fabric developments – all following the designer’s signature aesthetic merged with Uniqlo’s love for elevated basics. The warm-weather range features 54 pieces for women, 42 for men and covers all the basics: shirts, knits, dresses, transitional jackets, shorts, skirts and even swimwear. New this season are crewneck T-shirts with boxy silhouettes made from a super soft fabric and the use of linen, which crops up in various shirts for men and in open collar shirts for women.
Select items from the Spring 2019 collection will launch on Jan. 14. All other items will be available for purchase online and at Uniqlo 5th Avenue in New York on Jan. 31, with additional stores to launch the collection the following day.
