January 2 – The Chargers kicked off the new year by bringing back a name from the past, signing safety Dexter McCoil to the practice squad to replace safety A.J. Hendy. The 6-4, 220-pound McCoil appeared in 18 games between 2016-17 for the Bolts, including all 16 with two starts in 2016. He totaled 26 tackles, five passes defensed and one interception during his first stint with the Chargers.
