A presentation to the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Land Use Committee has revealed renderings for a proposed apartment tower from Jamison Services, Inc. that would replace a portion of the World Trade Center.
The project, located at 350 S. Figueroa Street, would calls for the partial demolition of the World Trade Center’s parking garage and retail concourse to make way for the construction of a 41-story building featuring 570 studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Plans also call for amenity decks at the tower’s third and roof levels, with parking for 155 vehicles to be located within the existing garage.
CallisonRTKL is designing the project, which would rise to a maximum height of 480 feet above street level. Renderings show a slender high-rise structure, with a glass exterior and an angled roofline intended to distinguish the tower from nearby office buildings.
The proposed development would remain connected to the existing system of above-grade pedways which connect many of the properties in the Bunker Hill area. At ground level, plans also call for widening existing sidewalks along Figueroa Street and the addition of a new crosswalk to the north of 4th Street.
The tower site is located across Figueroa from the L.A. Hotel Downtown, where a Chinese developer has announced plans to construct a mixed-use complex that would result in the tallest building west of the Mississippi River, and within walking distance of the Regional Connector’s 2nd/Hope Station.
Jamison Services is best known for its substantial holdings in Koreatown, where the prolific builder has multiple tower projects in the planning stages.
