Blog: Culver City’s Margot Just Might Be the Coolest New Rooftop in LA

There’s something special about Margot, the new rooftop restaurant debuting today at the Platform project in Culver City. In a city still finding its footing when it comes to elevated outdoor dining, the lush arrival promises to be a major player — even as the Expo Line train rolls past at eye level.

Margot is the work of IB Hospitality’s Rohan Talwar, a name (until now) most closely associated with international projects and the neighborhood favorite Norah in West Hollywood. Now he’s taking up some serious square footage atop one of LA’s most successful new developments in years, with Roberta’s, Hayden, the Boba Guys, and Sweetgreen’s headquarters all below.

The Thomas Schoos-designed space is a mix of California chic and outright rooftop decadence, with views that spill out over the western side of LA. Eventually the construction across the street and just down the road will hold tens of thousands of square feet of office space for names like Amazon, so Talwar is getting in early with what may be the coolest opening for Culver City in a long time.

For food, chef Michael Williams has kept things classic with favorites like crudos, focaccia sandwiches, and salads. Margot is open all day, so expect plenty of avocado toast, pastas for lunch, and roast meats for dinner as well. David Kupchinsky is on to handle the cocktail and beer/wine side of things as well.
