A beloved Beverly Hills family behind the famed Da Pasquale Caffe is branching out to the San Fernando Valley. The Morra clan, who also operate Brunello Trattoria in Culver City, are expanding to Woodland Hills with H.O.M. Italian Eatery on January 22.
This new restaurant iteration is the work of the younger Morra family members Claudio and Gio, and will focus on a modern Neapolitan menu that still takes cues from an Italian grandmother’s kitchen. The space is a nearly 100-year-old building on Ventura Boulevard, with some 1,500 square feet of dining room and a small patio.
Gio and Claudio Morra, along with Gio’s wife, Lara Battimo, will take the reins. They also brought cousin and chef Gabriele Orsini in from Italy, as he has a classically-trained background doing fresh pastas, meatballs, pizza, and more. Beer and wine will also be available, with full liquor to follow.
The plans took a slight turn originally, as Gio and Claudio Morra planned to open another arm of their Westwood restaurant House of Meatballs in the building, which used to operate under the name Angel City Cafe. According to Gio Morra, “It would have been an injustice to do a meatball spot in this space.”
Pasquale Morra and opened Da Pasquale Beverly Hills with his wife and chef, Ana, their children, and extended family in 1993. Eventually, the Morras grew into several other restaurant ventures, becoming among the most well-respected Italian restaurant families in the city along the way.
As of this Tuesday, H.O.M. will be open for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. They’ll remain open until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
