Since listening to Perla Servan Schreiber’s conversation with Garance, we’ve all developed a serious love for her. Today, Vanessa even remarked: “I’m envious of the people that are lucky enough to be loved by her.” I can’t think of a higher compliment! She is a writer and a deep intellectual thinker who has inspired many with her unique perspective on age. She radiates a sense of genuine kindness and natural beauty. We couldn’t resist asking her a few more questions…
How do you define beauty?
Light, radiance, clean, allure.
What has aging taught you about beauty?
Above all, beauty is a matter of ritual and good living habits.
Taking care of yourself is something you should learn from adolescence on: cleansing your skin each day; choosing products based on the season, learning about lifestyle and aging; practicing good habits and applying them with care.
Moving, loving, laughing every day – and eating less as you get older.
What is your morning beauty routine? Any specific products you always use?
I do some nice stretches in my bed before getting up. Coffee. I brush my hair.
I spritz my face in the morning with La Roche Posay spring water. I brush my teeth for a long time (2 to 3 minutes) with an electric toothbrush.
I cleanse my face with Joëlle Ciocco perfecting lotion on a cotton round and press it to my face with both hands so I can enjoy the scent of the lotion and the sensation of freshness as much as possible, to get all the benefits from it.
After drinking hot water with ginger, lime and honey, I go out to walk with my little dog for an hour.
When I get back, more coffee. Meditation. Hot shower, cold shower.
I use Seasonly daycream on my face and Joëlle Ciocco body oil on my body, with a spritz of Habanita de Molinard eau de toilette.
What is your nighttime beauty routine?
Joëlle Ciocco sensitive cleansing milk, perfecting lotion, Seasonly night oil, and I always brush my hair.
You only wear white — does white make you feel your most beautiful? How did this habit start?
When I wear white, I feel at home. My energy is at its best. White simplifies my life. It’s white that chose me, about thirty years ago, and it never left.
