Following the collaborative GUESS gear, 88rising recruits Hajime Sorayama for another round of special merch. Tying in with the artist’s Head in the Clouds II cover design, the collection showcases a variety of Sorayama’s stylized robots atop monochrome layering pieces.
The in-demand Japanese artist’s signature "Sexy Robot" designs grace tees, hoodies and a sweater, utilizing black and white base tones to emphasize the bespoke artwork. 88rising branding graces the front of one cyborg-centric shirt, while another showcases one of Soryama’s stylized dinosaurs meeting a tennis-playing robot. A tipsy cat robot appears throughout the collection as both large and small prints, with other figures that include shiny metal mermaids and couples.
“Working with 88rising and seeing them reinterpret my work has been inspiring and refreshing," Sorayama said in a statemnet, "I love their creative energy and collaborating on new artwork specifically for their Head in the Clouds II album has been a real joy – it’s nice to see that my robots can surf!” 88rising founder and CEO Sean Miyashiro concurred, asserting his excitement about “working with the living legend Sorayama and collaborating to bring imagination to every visual for Head In The Clouds II.”
A limited number of collaborative Sorayama items are available on 88rising’s web store now, with more drops to come throughout the season. Take a closer look at the selection below.
