We’ve been talking a lot about the new-season trends here on Who What Wear, from the most popular fall shoes to the must-have styles to get ahead of before September. If you’re excited to know what color trends to expect once the leaves turn brown, then this one’s for you. On the fall runways, we had plenty of the predictable rich, earthy hues that we most commonly associate with the cozy season—from beige and camel to burgundy and brown. While we’ll undoubtedly be wearing these easy harvest hues on repeat, we’re also getting giddy over the unexpected colors that sashayed down the catwalks and will be dominating our Insta feeds come fall. From bright and bold colors such as hot pink and tiger orange to every shade of purple and green, get excited for a mixed bag of hues to suit every sartorial taste this season.
From soft lavender to muted mauve hues, the unexpected standout color on the fall runways was undoubtedly purple. Opt for a head-to-toe purple look to make a fashion-forward statement, or combine it with grays or browns to give the color a wintery touch.
Pass the guacamole… and the pistachios and olives while you’re at it. This fall’s unexpected color trend is good enough to eat! Fifty shades of green were seen all over the runways, running the gamut of pastel mint to deeper sage.
Lively and saturated bright orange may be a surprising hue to wear in the colder months, but if you’re adventurous and seeking an Insta-worthy look, this energetic shade is guaranteed to invite a whole host of likes and compliments.
When we saw bold, pink hues all over the fall runways, we were pleasantly taken aback. From vibrant hot pinks to cooler pink tones, the lively hue adds a vivacious touch to any outfit. Break the rules and wear it as the main color of your outfit, or pair it with the equally striking tiger orange hue—a duo we unexpectedly saw in abundance on the runways. For a subtler take, pair a voluminous pink top with jeans or leather pants.
A richer, deeper shade of yellow, the golden shade is the perfect hue to pair with your neutrals this fall. This brilliant pop of color will add an unexpected twist to your fall wardrobe.
