Back in January, we saw Zaha Hadid Design‘s SWIRL Bowl in crystal glass amongst other pieces at the Maison et Objet 2019 trade fair in Paris. This time around, the design team has traveled across the pond, unveiling a bespoke pop-up installation at 10 Corso Como NYC.
First launched in 2014, Zaha Hadid Design covers a wide range of contemporary design concepts, producing everything from fashion products, jewelry, limited edition furniture, interiors and set-designs — exploring Hadid’s unique perspective on spatial concepts. In past press releases, the architect has mentioned that her designs and architectures have always shared a common thread and that many of her earlier works were of product and interior designs. She’s also emphasized the significance of ZHD: "These design pieces are very important to me and my team. They inspire our creativity by providing an opportunity to express our ideas through different scales and through different media; an essential part of our on-going design investigation."
The latest project from ZHD is informed by signature fluid lines seen in ZHD homeware pieces. Featured pieces include objects like porcelain diffusers, metal bowls and glass cups that showcase CNC milled surfaces. Curved furniture and various graphics over walls are also featured in the space — at the entrance sits a 3-meter-tall installation. The collaborative project is a nod to Hadid’s affinity with 10 Corso Como.
The pop-up is open at 10 Corso Como NYC from now until May 22.
