The flagship Arts District spot opens next to Bavel in a matter of weeks
There are signs of life in the roomy warehouse-styled space next to Bavel in the Arts District. The long-developing property is about to add a project called Verve Roastery Del Sur, which will double as both a coffee roasting operation and cafe, as well as a more fully-realized restaurant.
In all, the new Verve Roastery Del Sur spans some 7,000 square feet of production and dining space. Mario Tolentino, a former Chopped contestant out of San Francisco’s Curio Bar and elsewhere, will put together the menu. He’s also overseeing all of Verve’s food across its more than a dozen cafe locations, meaning there will be a standard rotating seasonal cafe menu as well as daily grab and go items for those just using the cafe for caffeine and quick bites. Breads come from Superba, pastry from Erin McKenna.
In all, the Arts District newcomer will cover 110 seats both indoor and out, and will act as a flagship location for Verve in Southern California (hence the name). Verve already operates three other smaller cafes across Los Angeles. The hub will also produce coffee for those locations, as well as wholesale accounts in Southern California, and will offer an R&D lab and coffee cuppings for customers down the line.
Expect Verve Roastery Del Sur to open towards the end of August, keeping daily hours from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
