Following up on its previous film-inspired collection, UNDERCOVER unveils its Fall/Winter 2019 womenswear collection. Titled "Suspirium," the latest line references Suspiria, the 1977 horror film which received a reboot last year. The lookbook images showcase a mashup of inventive silhouettes, paying homage to the slasher classic.
According to Vogue, Jun Takahashi contacted Luca Guadagnino, the director of the reboot about using stills from the film on garments for the collection. Guadagnino approved of the request and what followed is a repeated print of the movie poster’s typeface and a photograph of actress Tilda Swinton. Additional standouts in the line include oversized outerwear and trousers constructed with a monotone color palette. While some pieces are floor length, others like sweaters and hoodies hit right above the knee. In total, the FW19 collection presents a twisted take on winterwear.
On an exclusive visit to the brand’s showroom, we took an in-depth look at the ready-to-wear collection. Those images are below and in the gallery above, check out UNDERCOVER’s FW19 lookbook.
