And we’re all considering a career move to apply…
This week however, the monarch made news as it was announced that she is hiring – something that is making a lot of us seriously consider a career move.
Yes, this is not a drill. The Queen is looking for a new security officer for Buckingham Palace.
The role – a Fire and Safety Access officer – offers £23k, depending on experience, plus a 15% employer contribution pension scheme and benefits. But if you don’t have IT skills or aren’t great with heights, you can forget it.
‘It’s knowing you’re protecting the community that surrounds you,’ reads the job description. ‘It’s feeling trusted to deliver to the very highest standards. And it’s the pride in protecting an environment of unique historic importance. This is what makes working for the Royal Household exceptional.’
But what are the personal requirements? ‘With a good level of physical fitness, you’ll be confident working at heights and in confined spaces,’ reads the job description, continuing: ’above all, you’ll have initiative and a responsive attitude, essential qualities that will enable you to deliver to the highest standards every day.’
The application deadline is 18 August, so happy applying!
