The Windsors are undoubtedly the most talked-about family in the world, with everything from Archie’s royal christening to the rumoured royal feud making news.
One of the most talked-about royal family members however is the Queen, from the food she banned from the royal kitchen to the news this week that an intruder had broken into Buckingham Palace while she was sleeping.
This week however it was her holiday plans that made news, with it reported that the monarch was having to delay her scheduled R&R.
And why? Politics.
Yes, really. Every year the Queen travels to Scotland to holiday in Balmoral from late July while her Buckingham Palace home opens its doors to the public, but this year she will be delaying her trip.
According to the Mail Online, the monarch will be pushing back her Balmoral plans until the next Prime Minister is chosen.
The next Prime Minister will be chosen on 23rd July, with either Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt stepping into the role.
The Queen therefore needs to push back her travel plans so as tradition dictates, she can greet the new PM.
‘The Queen will not go to Balmoral before meeting her 14th prime minister,’ a royal source told the Mail Online.
‘She does not want to travel 500 miles to the Highlands and back just for the meeting. She will stay at Windsor, so as not to bump into any visitors at the palace, and the new PM will be driven there.’
We hope the Queen enjoys her holiday – when she finally gets to go.
