Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to become parents any day now, with the royal baby reportedly due in April.
It’s hardly surprising therefore that speculation is rising around every aspect of the future royal, from the name of choice to who will be selected by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as worthy god parents.
This week however, everyone has been talking about the Queen’s role in the royal baby’s upbringing, after rumours emerged that the monarch wasn’t too happy about some of the Duke and Duchess’ parental decisions.
It is known that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle eat a predominantly plant-based diet, but according to Women’s Day, the royal couple had plans to raise their baby as vegan, but apparently the Queen ‘won’t have it’.
In fact, according to the publication, ‘Bringing the baby up as a vegan simply won’t be tolerated by the monarch’.

When it comes to influence over the baby’s upbringing, the Queen does carry a lot of weight, even said to be the first person to be informed once the baby has been born. Yes, Queen Elizabeth will reportedly receive a call informing her that the baby has arrived and what its gender is, before anyone else is informed, even Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland.
And the Queen’s power in terms of the royal baby won’t stop there, with it reported this week that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will actually have to change the royal baby name if HRH doesn’t approve.
‘The Queen has the power to say what their title is,’ Royal commentator Kate Williams explained in an interview with CNN. ‘But in the case of names, it is more of an informal conversation.’
She continued: ‘Of course they have such respect for the Queen that if she says “I really don’t like that name,” they’d definitely take that into account.’
So, when will the newborn arrive? What will be the name of choice? And will they eat a plant-based diet? There’s not long to wait and see, but we can all get in line behind the Queen to find out.
