The line-up for this year’s Cannes Film Festival has been announced, with Jim Jarmusch‘s zombie-comedy The Dead Don’t Die chosen to open the festival. As well as opening the festival on May 14, The Dead Don’t Die has also been entered into competition for the Palme D’Or prize alongside new films from directors including Pedro Almodovar, Xavier Dolan and Terrence Malick.
Alongside the competition movies, other categories at Cannes include "Un Certain Regard," "Out of Competition" and "Special Screenings." Notable mentions in these categories include two episodes from Nicolas Winding Refn‘s Too Old to Die Young and Rocketman, the Elton John biopic helmed by Dexter Fletcher.
Cannes has also announced that Alejandro G. Iñárritu will lead this year’s competition jury. Iñárritu is the director behind Birdman and The Revenant, and won the best director prize at Cannes back in 2016.
Cannes 2019 will begin on May 14 and run until May 25. Take a look at every film that will be shown below.
