The writer behind bestseller My Year of Rest and Relaxation, talks about her work, including the just-released new edition of her debut novella, McGlue. She’s joined at the Mark Taper Auditorium by Amanda Stern, author of the recent memoir, Little Panic.
Deafheaven, Baroness, Zeal & Ardor

We don’t feature a lot of metal in this column, but then again, Deafheaven and Baroness are bands that make metal that isn’t quite like most metal. If you’re interested in moody, swirly guitar rock, regardless of genre label, you’ll feel right at home when the bands play the Wiltern this evening.

DTLA’s art spaces come alive for an evening of strolling and exploring. A ticketed gallery tour is a good way to get an overview, but you can also create a DIY itinerary of the spots that stay open and welcome Art Walk night visitors. When you’ve seen enough, head over to Freehand Los Angeles, for a free after-party.
James Blake and Khushi
Friday, March 15
When James Blake isn’t busy collaborating with Beyoncé or touring with Kendrick Lamar, he makes some of the most atmospheric singer-songwriter records coming out today. He dabbles freely across genres, and brings talents like Moses Sumney and Metro Boomin on board to expand his distinctive sound. In addition to Friday’s show at the Fox Theatre, he plays on Saturday at the Palladium.
