A local developer wants to build a 62-unit apartment complex over more than an acre in Pasadena, among a growing number of residential developments being planned in the city.
The two-building project would replace a single-story medical office building at 356 Cordova Street, according to Urbanize.
The developer is an LLC connected to Regency Park Senior Living, a local firm that builds and manages senior living facilities. City documents do not specify whether the complex will cater to seniors. Regency Park picked up the property in October for $12.5 million. It was marketed as a development opportunity and the existing leases all run out this year.
The Pasadena Design Commission reviewed a preliminary plan for the development last week. That meeting allows the design commission to suggest changes the developer can incorporate before returning for a formal hearing.
Plans call for two U-shaped buildings each with two- and three-story sections, making it shorter than some neighboring apartment complexes. Courtyards would connect the buildings. There will be 99 underground parking spaces.
Developer James Li filed also filed plans last week for a 91-unit rental complex less than half a mile away.
