Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2020 runway wasn’t so much a revision of the brand’s oeuvre as much as it symbolized creative director Anthony Vaccarello’s continued evolution as a menswear designer. Diverting course from the sleek rockstar looks popularized by the label over the past decade, Vaccarello served up billowing, genderless looks to the multitude of celebrities in attendance.
Household names like Keanu Reeves and Miley Cyrus strolled down the red carpet on the way to the show, along with creatives like Jerry Lorenzo and 21 Savage. The celebrities passed by the row of photographers on the way to their seats alongside the rippling Pacific coastline as the sun dimmed and the models began to stride down the runway. Rotating floodlights ensured a dramatic, moody atmosphere, while a light breeze breathed life to the collection’s loose shirts and enormous trousers.
