L.A.’s been gets its fair share of major Euro fashion shows lately—Moschino is on Friday—but Paris-based brand Saint Laurent chose to show its men’s spring-summer 2020 collection by designer Anthony Vaccarello (who also does their women’s clothes) on Thursday night on the beach in Malibu. That’s right—sand galore and barefoot male models.
Vaccarello really envisioned the show as befitting Marrakesh, so he used the beach as a runway, with lit-up ocean waves in the background. Talk about drama. Vaccarello’s vision for the collection: soft, flowy pants and colors inspired by the Stones’ 1975 concert, where the legendary bad boys of rock donned the height of boho looks. The Saint Laurent man of the new decade, according to the press release, “exudes the free spirit inspired by the irreverent allure of Mick Jagger and the Parisian nonchalance of Serge Gainsbourg.”
Oh, and Saint Laurent face Keanu Reeves showed, causing paparazzi pandemonium. In the end, nobody minded getting sand on their feet—or their faces.
