Rap Mogul Diddy Says He Wants to Buy the Whole Fatburger Company

Plus a Burbank legend closes, and a new chef in Pasadena

Fatburger’s new owner?

Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs sent a curious Twitter video while standing inside an undisclosed Los Angeles-area Fatburger last week, claiming that he wanted to buy the company because he loved it so much. He says in the video: “Yo Fatburger, call me. I may wanna buy the company. Somebody get the owner of Fatburger on the phone… Tell me the price, I want everything.” Later, he updated the thread (which had close to 10,000 likes and 1,500 retweets, saying he might open a place in Los Angeles called Diddy Burger instead. Who knows what’s real at this point, but Combs’ comments do sound similar to the time Snoop Dogg said he’d buy Roscoes Chicken & Waffles to save it from insolvency.

Goodbye Burbank

The longstanding Burbank Bar and Grille has closed after 21 years. The neon-tinged live music bar hangout celebrated its final night of service on Sunday. It’s unclear what will come to the property next.

Moa time

Downtown’s Moa Kitchen is now open. The do-it-all steam table spot offers a rotating menu that moves from from American breakfasts and coffee to sushi and orange chicken, all from a storefront at 611 W. 7th Street. Their attached Ahn Bar is still yet to open.

Do (and eat) good

The Taste of St. Joseph Center charity event is coming up next month. The February 28 event runs anywhere from $75 to $150 for attendees out at Culver City’s Playa Studios, and includes guest chef demos, cocktails, and food from places like Border Grill, Kogi, Sunny Blue, Tocaya Organica, Makani, and more.

Valley delivery

The Press-Telegram reports on Edgar Martirosyan, the man made famous for delivering pizza to Ellen DeGeneres live at the Oscars five years ago. His Sherman Oaks pizza shop Napoli’s Pizza Kitchen is still doing pies, but now they’ve added a license that allows for the rarely-seen delivery beer and wine.

New chefs

There’s a new chef at work inside Pasadena’s popular dinner destination the Raymond 1886. The restaurant now has East Coaster Jon Hung at the helm, after Hung spent time at the popular Common Lot in New Jersey. Interestingly enough, Hung is the brother of longtime Angeleno chef Michael Hung of Faith & Flower.
