The LA Rams play against the Patriots in this weekend’s Super Bowl
As one of LA’s best-known landmarks, the massive donut atop the Inglewood Randy’s Donuts always evokes a reaction. That feeling will be turned up to eleven now that the Rams will play against the New England Patriots for Super Bowl Sunday. Over the weekend, the donut transformed to a hue of gold and blue.
The massive bright yellow donut now reads, “LA Rams Donuts” in blue lettering, and the 24-hour donut stand is now blue with a giant Nike swoosh on the side. At all Randy’s locations, staff will churn out a limited edition blue Rams donut with gold sprinkles.
According to the Los Angeles Times, this is the first time that the eye-catching donut has ever been painted over, even though the business partnered with other brands in the past. But only with vinyl wrap, so the brown donut sign would remain undamaged.
The Rams, Nike, and Randy’s are hoping this promotion cements the bond between the Rams and it’s forthcoming new home in Inglewood. Randy’s is only 2.3 miles away from the its future home, which is slated for completion in 2020. There’s also a fan appreciation event at Randy’s today from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Don’t get comfortable with the new paint job. It’ll be back to that familiar shade of brown after the game. The Super Bowl airs on CBS at 3:30 p.m. Pacific Time on February 3.
