Ahead of Virgil Abloh’s forthcoming “FIGURES OF SPEECH” exhibition at Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Pioneer DJ has announced a collaborative set of four CDJ-2000NSX2s and a DJM-900NXS2 mixer in a one-of-a-kind “TRANSPARENT” casing. The exhibition, which will also purportedly feature the drop of the long-awaited Off-White™ x Nike AF1 in Blue, will celebrate Abloh’s creative breadth and achievements that range from architecture to fashion to music and more. The new DJ equipment effectually re-evaluates and re-thinks its flagship products, stripping them down to a skeleton-like frame that exposes the inner workings of its prized hardware.
Speaking on the new equipment, Abloh stated that he aimed to give the equipment a new look and feel, designing a “see-through and non-labeled rendition of the classic models to inspire a different sound while DJing. And perhaps a new way for music technology and human interaction to equal a different result.” The semi-live exhibition takes place this June and will end in September. The exhibition will feature the new Pioneer DJ equipment as well as a plethora of other works. More info can be found via MCA Chicago’s "Figures of Speech" exhibition page.
