The new two-and-a-half minute clip gives fans a look at Jean Grey’s rebirth into a god of death, which is considered one of the most important storylines in the X-Men universe by fans worldwide. The film’s plot starts off with the X-Men crew in space on a rescue mission. There Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. As she returns home, she finds herself constantly battling with the force inside her, which slowly takes her to the dark side and ultimalely transforms her into The Phoenix.
Along with the new trailer, the studio shared the film’s first official poster, seeing one half of the "X" representing the dark side while the other half represents the light side.
Directed by Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on June 7, 2019 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
