New Balance has wasted no time in delivering progressive revisions to its new 990v5, and the latest rework may be the most forward-looking in-house creation to date. High contrast accents of color appear throughout, making the often understated running shoe unusually bold.
Most commonly seen in comparably demure makeups, the American-made 990v5 has seen some more lurid makeups to date, but many of the more overt iterations come from collaborations. This original design takes on a mostly-white upper, counterbalanced by black accents on the heel and toe. Leather, suede and mesh appear throughout, bolstered by a gradient stripe near the ankle and a shiny panel below the heel. Muted silver hits on the midsole team with the black outsole to keep the shoe’s striking upper relatively grounded.
The latest take on New Balance’s 990v5 is now available from stores like Overkill for €219.95 EUR (approximately $245 USD).
