13 years after its initial pickup, we’re finally getting the anticipated Mötley Crüe biopic. Streaming giant Netflix has just released the lead trailer for The Dirt, directed by Jeff Tremaine and based on Neil Strauss’ autobiographical book of the same name.
Revolving around the rise and fall of the famed ’80s rock band, the film’s timeline covers both the easygoing phase of their early years and eventual personal problems that ended their run, such as bassist Nikki Sixx’s heroin addiction, guitarist Mick Mars’s degenerative bone disease and drummer Tommy Lee‘s rocky marriage to actress Heather Locklear. The band’s notorious tour behavior and singer Vince Neil’s vehicular accident that killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle serve as a strong focus in The Dirt.
The all-star cast includes rapper Machine Gun Kelly as Tommy Lee, Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars, Loving Vincent’s Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, The Punisher‘s Daniel Webber as Vince Neil, Breaking Bad‘s David Costabile as long-time manager Doc McGhee and SNL comedian Pete Davidson as record executive as Tom Zutat.
The Dirt is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix on March 22.
In case you missed it, the HBO trailer for the controversial Michael Jackson documentary Leaving Neverland was just revealed.
