Furthering its library of original content, Netflix has created a stunt driving reality TV show with Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron titled Hyperdrive.
Theron, whose experience with stunt driving spans across The Italian Job, Mad Max: Fury Road and Fast and the Furious 9, will act as executive producer for the new series, which will last 10 episodes. Speaking about her involvement, Theron told Entertainment Weekly that “I’ve been wanting to do a reality/competition project for a while, and when I heard about this concept I thought there was truly nothing on TV like it. It combines my love of cars and competition while maintaining that human element that I love about reality TV.” Lindsay Czarniak, Rutledge Wood, Mike Hill and Michael Bisping will all be co-hosting.
The show features 28 contestants from a range of different backgrounds — from a delivery driver to a model and even a law student — who will be pitted up against each other in a series of stunt driving challenges. The winner will earn the title Hyperdrive Champion, but Netflix has yet to reveal what the grand prize is.
Hyperdrive will arrive on Netflix August 21, and the streaming platform has just dropped a trailer for it, which you can view above.
