A special sneaker launch event for the Michael Lau x Nike SB Blazer Low, dubbed "Salvator Michael", took place in Shanghai last Sunday, August 18, with the collaborative efforts of Concepts China and Fly Shanghai.
The community-focused event — which pays tribute to the late Sandy Bodecker, who played a vital role in the development of Nike SB and their most memorable collaborations — saw the premiere of a tribute video by Nike SB WHQ to Bodecker, featuring riders and friends who spoke about his life and the impact he made to skateboarding. There was also an exhibition element which notably showcased the history of past collaboration between Bodecker and Lau, topped off with a specially-made silver deck series with the tag line: "Remember the Silver Man."
The tagline "Remember the Silver Man" is from a T-shirt design of Lau’s that was inspired by the Silver Surfer tattoo on Bodecker’s right calf, and also by one of Nike’s 11 Maxims, "Remember the man."
The Nike SB Blazer Low “Salvator Michael” is now available on Nike.com and all proceeds from its sales will be used to aid China’s skateboarding community.
