Legendary Valley Chili Dog Stand Cupid’s Seems to Be Expanding to the Arts District

Hot dog days

There’s some potentially good news for Arts District diners eager for an inexpensive meal: Cupid’s Hot Dogs seems to be on the way. The popular Valley stands have a legacy that dates back to the 1940s, and now the restaurant mini-chain seems to be landing along 7th Street not far from Guerrilla Tacos and ERB. Some “coming soon” signage is already up, though it’s worth noting that Eater reached out to the operators of Cupid’s Instagram account, and they didn’t seem to have much of an idea as to what was going on. NoMad differences

The NoMad team is popping up inside its own restaurant, launching a series of monthly weekend-only reveals in the coffee bar area just off the main lobby. First up is a truncated version of the Mama Guidara’s red sauce Italian menu from New York City, running Friday and Saturday in April.

Big names

Rapper and food personality Action Bronson will be at Everson Royce Bar in the Arts District on Sunday, signing his new book Stoned Beyond Belief and generally schmoozing with the crowd. Yes there will be drinks and plenty of Triple Beam Pizza for the $45 pricetag (signed book included).

Hiring time

Popular bagel-maker Maury’s is hiring in Silver Lake. The upcoming shop is nearly ready to reveal itself, so interested bakers should apply within.

Tacos everywhere

The new Cardi B and Bruno Mars music video was filmed at East LA’s Tacos Mexico, reports LA Taco. The Olympic Boulevard location earns a pretty serious showcase for the entire dance-heavy video, from flipping tortillas on the griddle to lots of carne asada.
