Yes, the place is actually owned by an Italian prince
Don’t look now, but some princely (and appropriately-named) pasta is coming to Venice soon. The nearly three-year-old Prince of Venice food truck is going legit with a new space on Main Street in Venice, dishing out upturned versions of things like the maccheroni tartufo, which comes with shaved black truffles on top.
The Prince of Venice food truck first popped up back in 2016, earning instant recognition thanks to its owner, the very real Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia, who is a grandson of the last king of Italy. Filiberto had chef Generoso Celentano design a menu of extruded pastas and other Italian salads and sides right from the truck, saying in 2017 that he planned to grow into multiple trucks and even a few brick and mortar locations, including a discussed address in the Arts District. Now it’s all about getting Venice up and running first.
The new fast casual pasta space lands right across the street from Bulletproof Coffee, near Chez Tex and the shuttered Chaya, which closed back in November after nearly three decades. The plan with the new place is to expand into other areas of Italian interest, from salads and sandwiches to thin Roman-style pies, like the kind seen at Il Romanista in El Segundo. For now the truck is still up and running with a weekly schedule, and the restaurant itself should be ready by the middle of next month.
