Jil Sander has announced plans for Jil Sander+, a new line that takes inspiration from "life outside of the city." The idea behind the new line comes from creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier, particularly their upbringings surrounded by mountains and enjoying skiing, snowboarding, hiking and climbing.
The pieces designed for outdoor living focus on utilitarian influences, and mix the understated luxury of Jil Sander with more technical and comfortable elements. One example of the technical fabrics comes through a collaboration with Mackintosh. Featuring both outerwear and accessories, the collaborative capsule focuses around Mackintosh‘s signature bonded rubberized fabric.
Elsewhere, the first Jil Sander+ collection — which will release for Fall/Winter 2019 — will also debut the luxury house’s first denim line. The denim capsule includes trousers, shirts, jackets and jumpsuits, all of which are constructed from fabrics sourced from Japan’s best denim mills.
Elsewhere, the collection includes everything from Arctic Down Jackets and packable outerwear to knitwear and jersey pieces, as well as sturdy boots, slippers and cozy mohair blankets. For the ultimate luxury-meets-outdoors aesthetic, Jil Sander+ is also set to release silk pyjamas and nightgowns contained in their own travel bags.
