For JIEDA’s Fall/Winter 2019 collection, the Japanese brand joined forces with a few stalwart clothing labels to bring its own vision of progressive menswear to life. One was Dickies and the other was Ellesse, the latter of which is distinct from its Western counterpart; Ellesse and JIEDA conspired to create a new sneaker silhouette that’s both easy to pull on or off and hefty enough to anchor the fashion brand’s clever layers.
Sporting black suede above the matching midsole and the same textile in tan above, the shoe utilizes the color-blocking to create a bottom-heavy appearance, keeping the "ellesse" branding on the upper tonal to minimize contrast. Not only is the black suede tongue executed in the same shade as the hefty rubber outsole, but it hosts the special lacing system, which repurposes the BOA technology usually utilized for snowboarding boots. By twisting the knob at the top, the wearer can easily adjust the shoe to fit more snug, and popping it up allows them to slip it off with ease.
