Jai Paul has garnered a cult following since he emerged in 2010 with two demos: "Jasmine" and "BTSU." Despite the cult following surrounding the tracks and a leak of his would-be debut album, Jai Paul has remained mostly silent in the past seven years, with information about upcoming releases all-but-nonexistent.
On June 1, Paul broke his silence to release two new singles, his first official release since the two demo tracks. "Do You Love Her Now" and "He" keep in line with Paul’s oeuvre, delivering more spacey, squelchy, funk-indebted pop, albeit with a more organic sound than his previous work. Spindly guitar, thudding bass and breathy vocals, courtesy of Jai Paul Institute member Fabiana Palladino, inform "Do You Love Her Now," while the glistening synths and tumbling percussion of "He" leans into the ’80s inspiration that informed Paul’s first singles.
Both singles are available to stream via Jai Paul’s new website and digital streaming services. Paul’s site also offers a variety of goods for sale, including tees, posters and physical LPs of his music. Stream the new tunes above and check out the playlist of official Jai Paul Institute releases below.
