How to transfer contacts from any phone to a Samsung Galaxy S10 in 2 ways

If you have contacts that you need to transfer from another phone to your Samsung Galaxy S10, you can do it via email or by copying contacts to an SD card or SIM card.

How to transfer contacts to a Samsung Galaxy S10 using email

If you have contacts on another device, the easiest way to get them onto your Galaxy S10 is by saving them as a vCard (also called a VCF file) on the other device, and then importing them into your phone via email.

To begin, save the contacts on the other device.

If you’re transferring contacts from another Android phone, follow the first few steps in the "How to transfer contacts from Android to iPhone using a VCF file" section of the article, "How to transfer contacts from an Android phone to an iPhone, in 4 different ways." 

But if you’re transferring contacts from an iPhone: 

1. Open the iCloud web page in a browser and click "Contacts." 

2. Select all the contacts you want to move to the Galaxy. 

3. Click the Gear in the lower left corner, and choose "Export vCard."

4. Click "Save File" and pick a place on your computer to save the file to. 

5. Send that file to your Galaxy S10 via email.

Once you have sent the vCard file to the Galaxy S10, import the contacts:

6. On the Galaxy S10, open the email and tap the VCF attachment.

7. On the "Import contacts" screen, tap "Save." 

8. Choose the location on your phone where you want the contacts to be saved and tap "Select."

How to transfer contacts to a Galaxy S10 using a SD card or SIM card

If you already have the contacts on an SD or SIM card, you can transfer them to the Galaxy S10 by inserting the card (temporarily or permanently) in the Galaxy S10.

1. Turn off your Galaxy S10 by pressing and holding the Power button, then tap "Power off." Tap "Power off" again to confirm you want to shut it off. 

2. Insert the tray removal pin (which came with your phone) into the SIM card slot until the slot pops out. 

3. Insert the microSD card so that it fits flush and snugly in the tray, then insert it back in the slot.

4. Turn your Galaxy S10 back on. 

5. Open the Contacts app.

6. Tap the three horizontal lines on the left side of the screen.

7. Tap "Manage contacts."

8. Tap "Import/export contacts."

9. Tap "Import vCards files (VCF) from your phone." 

10. Choose where the contacts are stored — "SD Card" or "SIM card."

11. Select the VCF file you want to import (or tap "All") and then tap "Done."
