How to set up email accounts on your iPad using the device’s Mail app

How to set up a web email account on your iPad

1. Start the Settings app.

2. Tap "Passwords and Accounts."

4. Tap the kind of email account you want to add. Webmail accounts include iCloud, Google, Yahoo, and Outlook.com.

How to set up an IMAP, POP, or Exchange email account on your iPad

Webmail accounts are easy to set up since you only need to enter a username and password, but other accounts are slightly more complicated, because you need to also enter details about the incoming and outgoing mail servers. 

If you don’t know these details, you should be able to find them on the email provider’s web site or talk to the company’s support. This is a common question and the provider should have exactly what you need, including step-by-step directions for iOS. 

Here are the general steps:

1. Start the Settings app.

2. Tap "Passwords and Accounts."

3. Tap "Add Account."

4. If you’re adding a Microsoft Exchange account, tap "Exchange." Otherwise, tap "Other" and then tap "Add Mail Account." 

5. Complete the New Account form, entering all the information that’s requested.
