Hmmmmm.
Sure, being a royal has its advantages – the fashion, the personal chefs, the castles – but it definitely also has its drawbacks, from the end of privacy to the dreaded rumour mill.
No one knows this more than Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, with the royal couple suffering more than most with online criticism.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have endured an endless stream of online bullying since tying the knot, from rumours of the royal feud with Prince William and Kate Middleton, to speculation around why some of their employees have quit.
This week, the rumour doing the rounds is about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s personal lives, with reports that the royal couple have stopped being invited to parties by friends.
Why? Apparently because of their public displays of affection.
Yes, the royals are apparently being shunned at social gatherings because of their PDA.
According to reports via The Mirror, sources are claiming that the seating plans at their circle’s social gatherings are quite strict, insisting that couples should not be sat next to each other to avoid public displays of affection that could make others feel uncomfortable.
This is something however that sources have claimed Meghan ignores, with reports that the Duchess of Sussex insists on sitting next to her husband – something that reportedly leads the circle in question to ’roll their eyes’.
‘Kinder members of society roll their eyes and whisper that the poor lamb can’t help being Americaine,’ Charlotte Griffiths says of the situation in her Talk of the Town column. ‘The less forgiving have just stopped inviting her to dinner.’
Hmmmmm. We’re not sure what to make of this.
