Amidst Gucci‘s recent blackface sweater backlash, the Italian fashion house continues to release luxurious takes on sneakers.
Gucci’s latest Spring/Summer 2019 footwear release comes in the form of a Screener sneaker that is covered in a removable Art Deco GG crystal chain. The shiny accessory is wrapped around the ankle of the sneaker and is secured in place via a heel loop and attached in the front using the shoelaces. The Gucci Screener is also elevated by a bi-color outsole, an oval enamel logo at the toe, panels of green leather, and terry cloth trim. The entire shoe also has been put through a light distressing process to give it a vintage look.
Currently only available in the APAC region, the Gucci Screener Sneaker with Crystals retails for ¥192,240 JPY (approximately $1,720 USD).
