Elizabeth Taylor and the home’s living room
A Beverly Hills Post Office home once owned by actress Elizabeth Taylor has got a $4 million price reduction.
The 7,761-square-foot home listed for the first time in 21 years last year for $15.9 million and is now asking $12 million. Taylor lived at the home with her second husband Michael Wilding in the 1950s, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The single-story home sits on two acres with a swimming pool, garden, and a central courtyard. There are six bedroom and seven bathrooms and the master bedroom opens to the backyard. The home offers views of the city and the ocean on clear days, according to the Times.
The current owner is retired attorney Marvin Gross, who purchased the home for a bargain $2 million in 1997. Architect Budd Holden has recently renovated the home.
Taylor, who died in 2011, had an extensive real estate legacy. She celebrated her first marriage to hotel heir Conrad Nicky Hilton at the Sheraton Town House in Westlake, which a non-profit group now wants to buy and rehab as affordable housing.
After divorcing Wilding, she moved to a penthouse in New York City and later to the Swiss Alps and Virginia. She didn’t return to L.A unitl the early 1980s. From then until her death, she lived in a two-story home in Bel Air. She also owned a 10,000-square-foot home in Palm Springs, according to Curbed. [LAT] — Dennis Lynch
