Donald Trump is one of the most talked-about people in the world, with his DT quotes making us all face-palm on the regular.
The president of the United States never fails to be controversial, and from explaining why he deserves a Nobel Prize to his comments about The Squad and his snubbing his daughter Tiffany, the past year has been no exception.
This week however it was a potential trip to Denmark that made news as the President reportedly cancelled his visit for the most unbelievable reason.
Donald Trump has reportedly cancelled his state visit after Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen explained that Greenland was not for sale, after DT had voiced an interest.
The now-cancelled visit was at the invitation of Denmark’s Queen Margrethe II and set to take place on 2 September.
Donald Trump’s assumption that Greenland was up for sale has not gone down well, with many taking to Twitter to voice their anger.
‘As a Dane (and a conservative) it is very hard to believe. For no reason Trump assumes that (an autonomous) part of our country is for sale. Then insultingly cancels visit that everybody was preparing for,’ tweeted Rasmus Jarlov, a Danish Conservative MP. ‘Are parts of the US for sale? Alaska? Please show more respect.’
Denmark’s former Prime Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen also weighed in, announcing that ‘It must be an April Fool’s Day joke.’
What is going on?
