Though it recently released the Stars & Bars Hi "50th Anniversary," the Japanese branch of Converse has more iterations of the classic model in store for its half-century celebration. This time, the company has prepared a special low-top Stars & Bars shoe as part of its "Timeline" series, crafted from soft leather.
The Stars & Bars Low "Vintage Leather" keeps in line with previous "Timeline" releases, reimagining a once-discontinued model with premium materials and contemporary construction, without sacrificing the original details. For instance, the shoe’s eyelets are spaced and sized to exacting detail, its tongue is backed by a soft patch of cloth and the black heel tab on the rear is designed to exactly replicate the original.
Despite the striking attention to detail, the shoe’s black leather upper (it’s only available in one colorway) and thick rubber sole utilize modern technology to ensure lasting durability. Still, that contemporary, high quality construction comes packed in a box that mimics the Converse packaging of old, reinforcing the retro motif.
Expect the Stars & Bars Low "Vintage Leather" to hit Converse Japan’s web store on September 20 for ¥16,000 JPY (approximately $150 USD).
Most recently, Converse Japan dished out a Converse All Star Coupe Ox in “Beige Suede.”
