The Matte Lux formula is supposed to have a "velvet matte" finish that’s "long-wearing" with "intense pigmentation and a soft blurring finish." Most of the shades are quite pigmented with four to six hour wear and a non-drying feel. The texture varied a bit as some shades were smooth, velvety, and thin without emphasizing my lip lines or pulling into them but several separated along my lip lines noticeably or color settled into my lip lines over time. I didn’t get much scent from them–possibly subtle sweetness–and no discernible taste.
