While much of the sports world was focused on what was going on down the street as the Rams hosted the Dallas Cowboys, the Los Angeles Kings played a hockey game against the powerhouse Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night at the Staples Center.

Rapper and Southern California icon Snoop Dogg was on hand as the “celebrity guest of honor.” He served as warm-up DJ — DJ Snoopadelic — and dropped the ceremonial first puck, but most importantly, took to the Kings’ broadcast booth to help call the action in the first period on Fox Sports West.

Snoop produced more funny moments than we can count in a way only he can.

Some of the highlights:

On the Kings’ Cup wins: “I’ve drunk out of Stanley before, say that ain’t so.”

As a scrum breaks out: “He fired on cuz, hold on now. Get it cracking then, let’s go. Snoop Dogg in the house let me see something!”

On overpassing: “Somebody gotta be willing to take a shot. It can’t be all passes, somebody gotta want that money. Who want the money? Who want the money!?”

That full power play:

On a broken stick in final minute: “Oh come on, nephew!”

It’s been a rough season for the Kings, who sit at 18-25-3 on the season, but Saturday night was definitely a highlight. To make a memorable night even better, the Kings got the win, 5-2.

Here’s hoping Snoop finds his way into more NHL broadcasts soon.
