Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world’s eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We’ll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, “Meghan Markle Wore a Thing.”
The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle may be about six months pregnant with her first baby, but that doesn’t mean she’s bowing out of her royal duties yet. On Wednesday, the Duchess took a trip to Mayhew, a grassroots charity over a century old that works on animal welfare and homelessness in London, where she is officially a patron. While there, the Duchess met a bevy of pups with names like Roobarb and Azzy, in addition to other animals and people that have benefited from the organization’s many programs over the years.
For the occasion, the Duchess wore a chic monochromatic cream ensemble. Her coat — a sold-out cashmere Emporio Armani number she’s donned before — and her nude slingback heels from Manolo Blahnik represented the luxury side of her wardrobe well, as did her beige Stella McCartney Falabella handbag, which costs $1,235 new. But the centerpiece of the outfit, a cream knit maternity dress made from viscose, came from a much more affordable source: H&M. Retailing for a mere $35, it’s unlikely that this dress will be in stock for long. She may just be a Duchess, but Markle’s now officially the queen of the high-low fashion moment.
